Guidelines for Creating an IDP

The Individual Development Plan (IDP) was introduced by the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB)’s Science Policy Committee as a tool for postdoctoral researchers to establish structure in their training cycle. The purpose of the IDP is to provide a planning process that identifies both professional development needs and career objectives.

The AZCOMP IDP is a self study that you use to discuss your postdoc career with your mentor. The IDP is treated as confidential. To create an IDP, conduct a self-assessment, conduct career opportunities and identify current and future skill sets.
